About us
Machico was born in 2022 from the desire to create something different — not just another shirt, but a piece with identity, intention and meaning.
Founded by Daniela and Vítor, a Portuguese couple passionate about travel, nature and design, the brand emerged during a time of change, when a long-lost passion for drawing and creativity found its way back into everyday life.
Every Machico piece begins with a story
Each pattern is hand-drawn and inspired by islands from different parts of the world — places that represent freedom, discovery and a deep connection to nature. We don’t follow fast trends or create disposable pieces made for a single season. Instead, we create limited collections designed to accompany different moments, journeys and memories over the years.
For us, clothing should feel personal
That’s why every detail matters:
from the soft and fluid sustainable fabrics, to the engraved wooden buttons, comfortable fits and carefully selected materials designed to create timeless, versatile and easy-to-wear pieces for everyday life.
All our pieces are produced in Portugal in limited quantities, valuing Portuguese textile craftsmanship, close production relationships and attention to detail throughout every stage of the process. We choose to produce consciously and carefully — valuing quality over excess and identity over mass production.
Machico is not an island brand
It is a Portuguese brand inspired by islands, created for people who value freedom, authenticity and a genuine connection to the world and nature.
Sustainability is also part of our philosophy beyond fabrics and production. We continuously look for ways to reduce waste and extend the life of the materials we use — transforming leftover fabrics into new accessories and pieces instead of discarding them.
